The Nightlight
“The Nightlight” is my graduation film from the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade. It relies on strong visuals and avoids over-the-top sound effects to create a subtle and immersive atmosphere. This is also my first short film to be showcased at festivals.

“In the film, two cubs of an imaginary cat-like creature leave the comfort of the cave where they sleep with their mother and engage in a playful adventure with a firefly, which ultimately backfires. The film is aesthetically thoughtful, featuring simple yet striking figures with contrasting colors and a subtle atmosphere.
In a highly competitive selection of animated films, the jury faced a challenging task. However, the project ‘The Nightlight’ stood out as one of the rare works addressing the youngest audience—children aged 3 to 6. “

The Film Center of Serbia (FCS) plays a significant role in supporting the development of Serbian cinema. Through public funding and expert evaluation, FCS organizes competitions to provide financial aid for projects, including student films. The jury, composed of industry professionals, evaluates the submissions and offers a rationale for their choices.
